These are the second cold water swimming championships that I have covered at the Tooting Bec Lido in south London. People from all over the world migrate to the sub zero temperatures of arguably the largest outdoor pool in Europe. From Germany to Kazakhstan, competitors of ages between 7 and 87 participate in heats and finals consisting of a swimming a width of the pool, heads above water, and in fancy dress and a top hat and cane if you so wish.
